A Bit of History

After considerable discussion and lengthy meetings with parents, caregivers and the public the venue was chosen for the building of Kaitoke School on farmland owned by the Sanderson family. According to Ben Sanderson this was his best paddock.

Kaitoke School was opened in October 1988 by the then Prime Minister David Lange. The building was a Lockwood Design, one of only two Lockwood School Designs in the country. The school opened with thirty odd pupils, Years 1 to 8.

Lois Pratley-Teaching Principal, Kay Lawrence. Pat Sanderson and Winnie Blackwell were the original staff.”
